Bonner General Hospital Negotiation Update

Mediation Date November 12th

Bonner General Mediation Update

We met briefly with the hospital in early November and verified where we stand with open items.  Larry Kroetch quickly got up to speed with the wants and needs of the bargaining unit as he is taking over negotiations since Joe Kuhn retired.  We spent quite a bit of time with the mediator explaining our position regarding the gap in wages between what the hospital is offering and what our members need.  We return to the table next week to continue mediation and we have scheduled three days at the end of December to make sure we have adequate time to reach the best deal for the bargaining unit.

***INFORMATIONAL ONLY***

The following information regarding our strike defense funds are available for your reference.

What does the Local 690 Strike fund pay out?

Strike benefits will begin on the completion of the first day of the Strike/Work Stoppage and will be paid out at two hundred dollars ($200.00) per week to members who are and have been current in dues for the previous twelve (12) months.  (This benefit is in addition to the IBT Strike benefit which is currently 5x your monthly dues rate).

What is strike pay and how much would I receive from the IBT?

When strikers stop working, they do not receive their normal paychecks, but they will receive some money from the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Strike Fund. Many local unions also maintain their own strike funds to help their workers through difficult times. Local strike benefits are determined by the local. Strike benefits from the International Union are based on the following formula:

Strike pay is equivalent to five times your monthly dues amount with a minimum benefit of one hundred fifty dollars ($150.00) per week.
