The Association of Labor Relations Agencies (ALRA) will hold its 2014 Conference next week at the Hilton Seattle Hotel. Of particular interest to union leaders, staffers and activists will be the Advocates’ Day on Thursday, June 26, which brings together public and private sector labor and management representatives, and labor relations neutrals from across the United States and Canada to hear national and regional speakers discuss topics impacting today’s workplace.
The agenda on Thursday, June 26 will include Seattle Times business columnist Jon Talton on “Labor Relations Now and in the Future;” attorney Frank Morales on “The Impact of the Affordable Care Act on Collective Bargaining;” UCLA professor Chris Tilly on “Income Disparity, Union Density and the Impact on Collective Bargaining;” and UAW’s Jimmy Settles and Ford’s Bill Dirksen on “Labor-Management Cooperation: It’s About Real Outcomes (A Success Story).” And there’s much more.
